Meet the Staff

[Guillermo Szeszurak]

Guillermo is a 31 years old professional soccer player who made a career in Argentina and Europe (Portugal).
He started playing soccer at a young age at the prestigious River Plate Club, where boys from all over Argentina and neighboring countries try to be part of their youth academy with the dream of one day become a professional player.
At age 18, Guille left competitive soccer until two years later, when he was invited to join Excursionistas Club, a third division soccer team, which is located in the same neighborhood as River Plate.

In his first year he was the team’s leading scorer and in seven years he scored over 60 goals for them, helping his team win their league in 1994. The next year he was transferred to Los Andes Football Club, a second division team. In 1996 he fulfilled his dream of playing in Europe, more precisely at Felgueiras F.C. a second division team in Portugal, one of Europe’s most competitive leagues.

Things did not work out quite well there and he returned to Argentina to play in Laferrere Club, an up and coming team in the third division. There he helped his team win the league and ascend to the next level. Early next season he tore his left A.C.L. and it took him 5 months to return to the fields. Next, came a better contract at Acassuso Club, where he played two years to finally join again his beloved Excursionistas last year, in what could be the end of his playing career.

Even though it gives a valuable experience to learn from, being a professional player does not guarantee one can be a coach or trainer to youth. Guillermo is one of a few who along playing professionally enrolled at the University where after four years he earned the credentials of a P.E. teacher. Soon after his graduation, Guille worked for a soccer school and eventually had his own school in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The summer of 2004 will be Guille’s third in the United States. He has already accustomed to the local soccer life and has knowledge of the skill level of the local youth. He has trained several teams in the area including Sonoma Valley’s U-12, 14 and 16 boys and U-14 girls. Also, he has given clinics to the Santa Rosa Annadale’s U-12 and U-16 girls team.

His expertise is in training for soccer-specific fitness, individual technical evaluations and improvements, goal finishing and team tactics.

[Demian Cañete]

Demian is 26 years old and has goalkeeping experience in Huracan F.C., a first division team in Argentina. He started very young and was a goalkeeper at the club until 2001.

Demian is a licensed coach with the A.F.A. (Argentina’s Soccer Federation). He completed a two year curriculum that includes classroom and field hours and is the equivalent of a class “A” license in the United States.

Since he graduated, Caoch Demian joined Club Parque, Argentina’s most prestigious futsal (FiFA’s only recognized indoor soccer) and home to the academy that has seen the development of dozens of would be professional players, in leagues all around the world. Most notably, Demian had the opportunity to work with Nestor Pekerman’s team of coaches. Pekerman is worldwide famous for winning three U-20 World Cups for Argentina while preaching fair play virtues and an offensive soccer style.

The summer of 2004 will be Demian's second year in the United States and his expertise lies in goalkeeping training and age specific team tactical development.
